Biography
Christa King has always lived in the west. The people, landscapes and food of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Idaho are the inspiration for many of her poems. Her poems tell a story, illustrating a moment in a particular event or experience. She writes primarily free verse but also enjoys working within the boundaries of poetic forms; sestinas and pantoum are two of her favorites.
She is the oldest of seven children and her family gets together every Sunday on Zoom for Coffee & Crosswords (and conversation). She organized and participates in a monthly poetry discussion group in its fourteenth year and a monthly women’s group, active for over thirty-five years.
She was employed for many years in academia, both at the University of Arizona and the University of Colorado. Since retirement, she has worked part-time for the Jefferson County Library system. Christa has a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters of Library Sciences, both from the University of Arizona.
Her work has appeared in Trickster Literary Journal, 805 Literary Journal, Canyon Voices, Halfway Down the Stairs, and other journals.
