Biography
Kate Kingston's book of poems, History of Grey, a runner-up in the Main Street Rag Poetry Book Award, 2014, is now available from Main Street Rag Publishing. Her book Shaking the Kaleidoscope, a finalist in the Idaho Prize for Poetry, is also available from Lost Horse Press. She is also the author of three chapbooks: In My Dreams Neruda, a finalist in the Main Street Rag Press Chapbook Award; El Río de Las Animas Perdidas en Purgatorio, winner of the White Eagle Coffee Store Press Chapbook Award; and Unwritten Letters, Outlaw Press.
Kingston is a recipient of the W.D Snodgrass Award for Poetic Endeavor and Excellence, the Ruth Stone Prize, the International Publication Prize, Atlanta Review, and the Colorado Council on the Arts Literary Fellowship in Poetry. She has published in various literary magazine including Atlanta Review, Great River Review, Hawai’i Review, Hunger Mountain, MARGIE, Puerto del Sol, Nimrod, the Pinch, Rattle, and Sugar House Review. Her translations of Mexican poets have appeared in the Nimrod: Mexico/USA issue and in the anthology Mexico Poetry Today: 20/20 Voices, Shearsman Books.
Kingston received her Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Vermont College, and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with a Spanish major from the University of Wisconsin. She has held the position of Language Department Chairperson at the College of Easter Utah, the position of 2-4 Transfer Advisor for Student Support Services at Trinidad State College, as well as faculty positions at several Colorado secondary schools. Currently she lives and writes in Trinidad, Colorado.
