Kimberly O’Connor is the Youth Program Associate for Denver’s Lighthouse Writers Workshop. She received an MFA from the University of Maryland in 2009, where she was a winner of both the Academy of American Poetry student prize and the AWP Intro to Journals contest. As an undergraduate, she was awarded Highest Honors in Creative Writing at the University of North Carolina and was also a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. She has taught creative writing and literature in middle school, high school and college classrooms in Colorado, Maryland, West Virginia and North Carolina. She is the 2013 Alice Maxine Bowie Fellow for Lighthouse Writers Workshop, and her poetry has been published in Copper Nickel, Colorado Review, Hayden's Ferry Review, Inch, storySouth, Tar River Poetry, THRUSH Poetry Journal, and elsewhere.
