Biography

Alex Stein received his Ph.D. in Creative Writing from the University of Denver. He is the author of Variations in the Key of K (Etruscan Press) a densely lyrical collection of writings about poets and other artists. Two collections of interviews with poets (Artist as Mystic: Conversations with Yahia Lababidi Onesuch Press); and Made Up Interviews with Imaginary Artists (Wings Press) (conversations with local poets including Lorna Dee Cervantes, Peter Grandbois and Cecilia Vicuna). He is also the co-editor of two anthologies of very, very short forms of writing (aphorism, haiku, micro-essay, etc.) Short Flights and the follow-up Short Circuits (both from Shaffner Press). The contributors to these anthologies (poets all) include Joy Harjo, Charles Simic and Jane Hirshfield.. His lyrical prose, poetry and writings about poetry have been published in Agni, Michigan Quarterly Review, Denver Quarterly, Seattle Review, The Pinch, Bloomsbury Review, the Literary Review (Farleigh Dickinson University) and other nice venues.
