Biography
Marisa Tirado (she/her) is a Chicana, Puerto Rican, and New Mexican poet and educator. In 2022 Marisa published Selena Didn’t Know Spanish Either with Texas Review Press. The chapbook was featured by The Poetry Foundation’s Harriet Books, The Poetry Foundation’s “Poetry Off the Shelf” podcast, and The Atlantic. Marisa studied poetry and literary translation at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and currently teaches writing at University of Colorado-Boulder. Marisa co-founded Protest Through Poetry, an international collective of BIPOC activist poets. The collective works together through writing seminars, poetry workshops, and demonstrates our protest publicly through multimedia and physical demonstrations.
