Biography

Laura's writing has appeared in numerous journals including Prairie Schooner, Hayden’s Ferry Review, North American Review, Rattle,  Bellingham Review and many others. Most recently, Laura's essay “Healing” was published in the UNESCO sponsored anthology entitled The Art of Living (introduction by the Dalai Lama). Additionally, Laura's novel Flight of the Monarch was a finalist in Barbara Kingsolver's 2008 Bellwether Prize. As a former recipient of two Boulder Arts Commission grants (2003, 2005), Laura was the lead organizer for and participant in the multi-media art and poetry exhibit entitled The Art of Healing (Naropa University, 2005) and a night of readings featuring local women writers (Boulder, 2002). Laura graduated with a Master's Degree from the University of Colorado/Boulder writing program and subsequently taught college English for four years. Currently she is the Associate Program Director for the PassageWorks Institute, a non-profit dedicated to nourishing the inner lives of young people through school-based transitions programs.
