Biography

Lorrie Wolfe grew up in Denver, Colorado where she started writing haiku at the age of nine. She still writes haiku and a variety of other forms of poetry. She is passionate about the power of words, the power of volunteers, and creating community. Lorrie worked for 25 years as a community organizer and developer of nonprofit and governmental human services programs. She now maintains a freelance technical writing and editing business – Wolfe Unlimited – in Windsor, Colorado. Thanks to an extensive network, Lorrie sends out announcements about Colorado and national poetry events to over 300 Colorado poets nearly every day.

She is a member of Northern Colorado Writers, and the Columbine Poets of Colorado. Lorrie was named Poet of the Year for 2014-2015 at the Ziggies Poetry Festival in Denver. She served as the poetry editor for RISE: An Anthology of Change, which won the 2020 Colorado Book Award. She also won 2020 the Evelyn Corry Appelbee Award. In 2022, she was a finalist for Harbor Review’s Jewish-American Women’s Chapbook Prize.

Her work has appeared in The Mountain, Mad Blood, Plant-Human Quarterly, Progenitor Journal, and many others. Lorrie has won awards from Columbine Poets of Colorado and from the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. She is a graduate of Colorado State University. Her favorite two-word mantra is, “Show up.”
