Art Elser retired after 20 years as an Air Force pilot. During that time, he flew combat at a forward air controller in Vietnam in 1967-68 and retired in 1979. He worked 30 years as a technical writer for various computer, software, and communications firms. He has a PhD in English and was a professor of English at the USAF Academy, and an adjunct professor at Chapman University, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and Denver, Phoenix University, American University, and New Mexico Tech. His chapbook, We Leave the Safety of the Sea, won the Colorado Authors’ League poetry award in 2014. Art has recently published A Death at Tollgate Creek: Songs of the prairie.
