Critical Commentary:

In compiling LuNaMoPoLiS, one of these poets was our “green light,” a glowing scrap of serenity in a poetic landscape of fear, fog and obscurity. This poet is ripe and marvelous; he is courteous and unafraid; he is the lightbulb pomegranate; he is the fertile flounder; he is the lover's pillowcase. His name is Eric Raanan Fischman. And, with his guidance, we hope you wander LuNaMoPoLiS like “fallen petals in windblown sand.”

— Tootles Methuselah, from the introduction to LuNaMoPoLiS: New Love Poetry (Lunamopolis, 2013)

Fischman’s work has always felt refreshingly calm to me with lots of space between the words no matter the emotional context. His experiments with form and syntax don’t confuse or grate the ears, like is so often the case, but feel pretty subtle and make you think, okay, yeah, I could see this being the New Language now.

—Jonathan Montgomery, from Long Lost Local Poetry: Eric Raanan Fischman’s “Mordy Gets Enlightened”(Boulder Poetry Scene, 2019)

I want to live my entire life the way you write poetry, Eric. With no strings attached. Not just bottling the moments into memories so I can enjoy them later, but enjoying the present fully now, instead of being so preoccupied with trying to preserve it. I want to just let what is be what it is, right now, to exist as fully as I am able to, right now, saving nothing for later. Really to just be here now, as fiercely alive as I can shine.

All my love to you, my Friend
