On The Other Side Of Now
On the other side of now exists a world sustained
by the hearth of our kindness, as if we, on this earth
and whatever time marks us, exist as a sun for a world
we could not see, we may never know. We are endowed
with the duty to give off kindness the way steam rises,
to extend encouragement the way the sun pulses,
to sing our hearts till someone, somewhere, alive yet
or not, drinks from this honesty something of a
tender hope. My loneliness could touch your loneliness,
out of this we weave something worthy of calling our life.
I don't know what else to say, or how else to echo this
lineage of inherited wisdom. The only ground worth
walking is the distance between my side and yours.
And doesn't everything move towards the beloved
eventually, and with time.
